phil stumpf Born in 1973 in Germany, the Parisian-by-choice Phil Stumpf began playing in various bands more than ten years ago. During and after his studies to become a medical doctor he began to mix as a DJ and produce in order to release his own productions. He became quickly known for the now legendary party series ‘Minimal Dancin’ at the Nouveau Casino in Paris which he organizes which his partner Sam Rouanet. Today he is hosting two other resident nights in Paris at the Triptyque and the Batofar. Additionally he helps organize the german music festival in Paris, the ‘Festival Music-Allemand’. When Phil Stumpf is not playing as a solo artist he´s either working with Sam Rouanet as Duplex 100 or looking for new definitions of electronic jazz as part of the trio Canvas. Last not least he is co-founder of the german electronica band Oh that established their name playing alongside bands like Mouse on Mars or Tortoise. Musically his music and DJ sets impress with uncompromising clarity and a passionate funk attitude while never ignoring the ‘less is more’-principle.
